Usually a good ass-kicking (even though I HATE IT) usually gets me out of a rut and spurs on more creative thinking. In fact wouldn't you agree that most creative thinking comes out of problems. I guess it is not about non-conformity(cool) or conformity but knowing who you are, being yourself, and freedom of expression.
