@Stormy and David- I think that the important thing is that some connection has been made initially? When people get bored they may leave but that initial connection keeps them coming back to check on the site...hopeful that something may pique their interest again. Maybe people ARE just waiting for something to happen? Is it human nature? I wonder how many people have gone back to check on the guys doing nothing for a year. It would be interesting to find out.

I am in my usual circle trying to make connections. I have been an active user on social network sites for close to fifteen years. I have seen this happen twice where we had build this massive group, and then the leaders would branch off and take their followers with them and not only would the mass be broken down, but each tribe ended up phasing out as well and the reason is(I think) is because the community became so elite and exclusive that it got boring. Newcomers, oh my goodness...I actually ran into that tonight..almost have to wiggle to find their space amongst the clique.. I personally love the differentiation of our human qualities..

I gotta defend my96 in the Hat though..they are wonderful..and the screaming Christmas Carol I hear every now and then has us in stitches all the time.

I would like to hear his opinion on the difference, between tribe, gang, cult, cliques, community, "The Club-Members Only, etc

I think that we need to be around people are not like thinkers to grow...*shrugs*

I do get some of it..but alot I don't and admit it..I think i need to read the book to see the larger picture.

The question should be "You sing to me but do you see me?" I think if people keep coming back then the artist has done their job. It has to be authentic of course. :-)

I've often wondered if there isn't an umderlying connection that, for a moment, is realized between a group people in a concert environment or (who knows) even an affinity with one individual's music that we can't explain. In a concert, for a fleeting moment, everyone becomes unifed mentally and emotionally throught the music. It can be a truly sublime experience and one that creates a very stong bond with those who experience it. I remember when I was a kid in high school 'tribal' was an understatement for the cultural lines drawn by musical interests.

Like I said...Holden Caufield...poor kid looking for some kind of connection. I think J.D. Salinger knew what he was talking about. Yes David, "me, me ,me". :-) It's the mirror image. A reflection back that includes reciprocity, engagement, empowerment and connection of like minds and interests. It's also empowering those in the community to use their talents and to give back... which in turn inspires others to create... Leading by example and giving something to look forward to is exactly what you have done! KUDOS. Barack Obama also comes to mind in the way he assembled his talented cabinet (or tribe as I like to call it). I love that! People are more engaged in politics than ever.

Seth has some very interesting points here and I agree with Steve that we are all here because we have some unrealized or realized similarities.

Sorry one more thing, interesting about the loss of creative talent over a 'loss of empowerment' how many times have I seen that? Hire people on outstanding credentials, trust them, and leave them alone - you get the best results - my philosophy.
